Golden Hours & Golden Flowers in Oregon

Let me just start by saying holy cow, THE PNW IS STUNNING!!! The variety of landscapes available as backdrops for photos is truly unmatched and we were so excited to document love stories in so many unique spots! Kicking it off in a wildflower field!

Before Trent and I traveled to Oregon to shoot a wedding, we decided to extend our trip and explore more of the PNW since neither of us had ever been there before. We spent our first few days on the coast before heading to the Columbia River Gorge region for the next few days. We stayed in Hood River and explored this cute river valley city and its surrounding areas. And lemme tell yah, spring is the time to go! Because the wildflowers were incredible!!! In this region the bloom peaks around mid-May so we were there in PERFECT timing! We had a session scheduled for the day after we got to Hood River so we decided to head up to the photo location to scout and our jaws practically dropped. There were purple and yellow flowers stretching in every direction on a picturesque plateau above the river. The only downside, it was SO WINDY! We had planned to take our own headshots on this evening but the wind would’ve 100% knocked over the tripod and taken camera down with it! So we had to “audible” and take our photos somewhere else. And I won’t lie, after experiencing that wind I was a little nervous for what was in store the following day for our session! But low and behold, the weather could not have been better!

Sophie and Kevin met us at the top of Rowena Crest in the Columbia River Gorge for their golden hour session and guys, it was the stuff of dreams! Sophie wore a stunning Free People dress and Kevin was stylin’ as well! We spent over an hour soaking up that golden hour light wandering all over the landscape taking GORGEOUSLY whimsical and romantic photos! At the end of the session Sophie and Kevin said that even though they’ve lived in Portland for 4+ years, neither of them had ever been to this spot! We were excited not only to have them walk away from the session with fun memories together and beautiful photos of those memories, but also a new place to explore more!
